affordable apartments in Cortland New York

It’s finally winter break, and I know you’re excited to get home and celebrate the holidays! You’ve just submitted your last assignments and exams for the semester, and it’s finally time to relax, right? Not exactly. You want to take care of a few more things before you check out of your apartments for rent in Cortland

In your excitement, please don’t forget to do a thorough walk-through. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Did You Grab All of Your Belongings?

Pack Up Apartment in CortlandWe know you grabbed all your clothes and shoes, but don’t forget the rest. Electronics and expensive jewelry are some of the most popular things to leave behind. You can create a checklist when you first move into your student apartment rental in Cortland and add to it every time you buy something new, then once you’re ready to move out, go back to the list and make sure everything is accounted for, including anything new you may have bought.

The most common place to lose things is under the bed! If you are wondering where your missing socks are, check there. Don’t forget to check the closets as well! It sucks to get all the way home and realize your favorite jacket is still hanging up.

Only leave your student apartments for rent near SUNY Cortland after taking all your self-care items out of the bathroom! We know those products weren’t cheap. You can look your best at home, too, as long as you take your hair and skin care products with you before you move out for a break.

Is the Stove Still On?

Did you do a thorough kitchen walk-through to ensure nothing was left on? The one thing we always think when we go on vacation is, “Did I leave the oven on?” As you go through your checklist, make the kitchen and its appliances a priority. It may help to unplug things like the microwave and other non-essential outlets.

This includes taking food and drinks with you as well. Try not to buy perishables too close to the end of the semester, so they don’t go to waste. Anything else can be packed to take with you. It helps to leave all the cabinets and drawers open as you go through so you know that you’ve taken everything. The same goes for the bedrooms’ closets, drawers, and desks.

Check for Damages

Accidents sometimes happen, resulting in damage, but it’s okay! Before that happens, make sure to be aware of your surroundings. Try not to have too many wild parties. It might be fun at the time, but it’s an immense pain to deal with afterward.

If you need an affordable place to stay with all the amenities, Cortland Student Rentals has plenty of affordable student apartments near SUNY Cortland. Treat it like your own home, and the best way to do that is to leave it the way you found it so we can continue to offer affordable apartments for many students to come.
